Egg Rolls
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
- 1/2 small yellow onion, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup)
- 4 large dill pickles, finely diced (about 1 cup)
- 1 1/2 cups (169.5 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 10 egg roll wrappers
- 1 recipe onion bacon jam, prepared
Dipping Sauce
- 1/4 cup (58 g) mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons mustard
- 2 teaspoons ketchup
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: To a medium skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and hamburger seasoning. Cook, stirring occasionally, until no pink remains, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and drain excess oil.
- Prepare Egg Roll Wrappers: Lay out 10 egg roll wrappers on a clean, dry surface.
- Assemble Egg Rolls: Working with one wrapper at a time, place the following filling near the center: 1 tablespoon bacon jam, ¼ cup hamburger mixture, 1 teaspoon diced onion, 1 ½ tablespoons diced pickle, and 2 tablespoons cheddar cheese.
- Roll the Egg Rolls: Wet the edges of the egg roll lightly with water. Fold up the bottom corner over the filling and roll once. Fold in the right and left corners to the center, pressing lightly to seal. Continue rolling to fully enclose the filling and press the edges to seal tightly.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C).
- Air Fry Egg Rolls: Place egg rolls in the air fryer basket (work in batches if needed). Spray tops lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Air fry for 3–4 minutes, then flip, spray again, and cook for another 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Make Dipping Sauce: While egg rolls cook, combine mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Serve: Serve the egg rolls hot with the prepared dipping sauce for dipping.
Notes
- To fry instead of air fry: Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F. Fry egg rolls in batches of 2–3 for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- To bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place egg rolls on parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer, lightly spray tops with cooking spray. Bake for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden and crispy.
- Ensure wrappers are sealed well to prevent filling from leaking during frying or air frying.
- Use sharp cheddar for best flavor, but feel free to substitute with your favorite melting cheese.
