Egg Rolls
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
- 1/2 small yellow onion, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup)
- 4 large dill pickles, finely diced (about 1 cup)
- 1 1/2 cups (169.5 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 10 egg roll wrappers
- 1 recipe onion bacon jam, prepared
Dipping Sauce
- 1/4 cup (58 g) mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons mustard
- 2 teaspoons ketchup
Instructions
- Cook the beef: To a medium skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and hamburger seasoning. Cook, stirring occasionally, until no pink remains, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and drain excess oil.
- Prepare wrappers: Lay out 10 egg roll wrappers on a clean surface.
- Assemble filling: Working with one wrapper at a time, add near the center 1 tablespoon bacon jam, ¼ cup hamburger mixture, 1 teaspoon diced onion, 1 ½ tablespoons diced pickle, and 2 tablespoons cheddar cheese.
- Roll egg rolls: Wet the edges of the egg roll lightly with water, fold up the bottom corner just over the filling and roll once. Fold in the right and left corners to the center, pressing lightly to seal. Continue rolling until fully wrapped and press edges to seal.
- Preheat air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Cook egg rolls: Place egg rolls in the air fryer basket (work in batches if needed). Spray tops with nonstick cooking spray. Air fry for 4 minutes, flip, spray again, and air fry another 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Make dipping sauce: While egg rolls cook, combine mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Serve: Serve the hot egg rolls with the prepared dipping sauce.
Notes
- To fry in oil: Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F in a deep pot or fryer. Fry 2–3 egg rolls at a time for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- To bake in oven: Preheat oven to 375°F, line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place egg rolls in single layer, spray or brush tops with oil, and bake 20 minutes flipping halfway through.
- Use water to seal wrappers effectively and prevent them from opening during cooking.
- For extra crispiness, do not overcrowd air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
