Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
Tortillas & Topping
- 4–5 large flour tortillas
- Olive oil or melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it’s hot enough to bake the pinwheels to a crispy golden finish.
- Prepare Beef Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, taco seasoning, finely chopped onion, and fresh parsley. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly blended.
- Assemble Rolls: Lay one large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread a thin, even layer of the raw beef mixture across the entire tortilla, covering it evenly right up to the edges.
- Roll & Slice: Carefully roll the tortilla tightly from one end to the other, ensuring the filling stays compact. Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 1 to 1.5 inch thick pinwheel rounds.
- Bake: Arrange the pinwheel rounds flat on a baking sheet. Lightly brush the tops with olive oil or melted butter. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 22 minutes, flipping the pinwheels halfway through baking. Bake until the beef is fully cooked and the tortillas turn golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve the pinwheels warm with your favorite dipping options such as salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for added flavor.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add extra chili powder or cayenne to your taco seasoning.
- Use whole wheat or gluten-free tortillas for a healthier or gluten-free option.
- Ensure tortillas are tightly rolled to prevent filling from spilling during baking.
- Flip pinwheels halfway through baking for even cooking and browning.
- Leftover pinwheels can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in the oven to restore crispiness.
