Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate covered pretzels that combine crunchy salty pretzels with smooth sweet chocolate, perfect for snacking or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Pretzels

  • 50 miniature pretzel twists or 24 pretzel rods

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 ounces chocolate chips or candy melts (milk, white, dark, or any combination)
  • 1 tablespoon shortening (only if using chocolate chips, not needed for candy melts)

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate: Place the chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. If using chocolate chips, add the shortening. Skip shortening if using candy melts.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Dip pretzel rods: Pour melted chocolate into a tall glass. Dip each pretzel rod halfway into the chocolate, tapping gently against the glass to remove excess.
  4. Decorate pretzel rods: Immediately coat each chocolate-dipped rod with sprinkles, then place on parchment paper to dry.
  5. Coat pretzel twists: Using a fork, coat each pretzel twist with chocolate, tapping the fork on the bowl to remove excess chocolate. Slide pretzels off the fork onto parchment paper with a toothpick.
  6. Add sprinkles to twists: Top each chocolate-coated pretzel twist with sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
  7. Let dry: Allow all pretzels to sit until the chocolate hardens completely.
  8. Serve or store: Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • You can use pretzel twists, pretzel rods, or a combination of both depending on your preference.
  • Use a tall glass to melt candy melts for easy dipping of pretzel rods for a perfect coating.
  • Choose any type or color of sprinkles to match different holidays or occasions.
  • Make sure to tap off excess chocolate to avoid thick clumps on pretzels.
  • Store chocolate covered pretzels in a cool, dry place to prevent melting.
