Description

This Dill Pickle Margarita is a unique and refreshing twist on the classic margarita, combining the tangy flavor of dill pickle juice with silver tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and a touch of simple syrup. Rimmed with Tajín seasoning and garnished with a pickle spear, this cocktail is perfect for pickle lovers looking for a vibrant, savory drink with a zesty kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Rim and Garnish

  • 1 (25 g) pickle spear
  • 2 tsps. (6 g) Tajín seasoning

Drink

  • 1½ cups (180 g) ice
  • 2 oz. (60 ml) silver tequila
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) dill pickle juice/brine
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) triple sec
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) simple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass: Rub the pickle spear along half of the rim of your glass to moisten it.
  2. Rim the Glass: Pour the Tajín seasoning onto a small plate. Dip the moistened edge of the glass into the Tajín to coat it evenly.
  3. Fill Glass with Ice and Garnish: Fill the prepared glass with ice and place the pickle spear inside as a garnish.
  4. Mix the Drink: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the silver tequila, dill pickle juice, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  5. Shake: Cover the shaker and shake vigorously until the mixture is well chilled, about 15–20 seconds.
  6. Strain and Serve: Strain the margarita mixture into your prepared glass over the ice and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Homemade Simple Syrup – Combine 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar and 1 cup (240 ml) water in a saucepan. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then cool. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.
  • Make-Ahead Tip – You can pre-squeeze the lime juice and prepare your simple syrup ahead of time to save cocktail-making time.
  • Don’t Pre-mix the Cocktail – Shake each cocktail fresh to keep it cold and undiluted for the best flavor.
  • Alternative to Tajín – If you don’t have Tajín seasoning, use kosher salt or a chili-salt combination as a rim substitute.
  • Nutrition Estimate – Nutrition values include the pickle spear and Tajín rim. Simple syrup absorption is estimated at 25% after shaking and straining.
