Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated
- 3 Tablespoons butter, divided
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
- 8 oz. angel hair pasta
- Fresh parsley, to garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Parmesan: Grate the Parmesan cheese finely and set it aside at room temperature to enhance melting.
- Melt Butter and Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally until fragrant but not browned.
- Add Liquids: Pour in the chicken broth and slowly add the milk while stirring continuously. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add Pasta: Add the angel hair pasta to the boiling liquid. You may break the noodles in half for easier fitting or use tongs to fold them as they soften.
- Simmer Pasta: Let the pasta simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Reduce heat to low once cooked.
- Add Butter and Toss: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the pasta and toss to coat evenly.
- Add Parmesan Cheese: Gradually sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese while stirring continuously until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. The sauce will thicken as it stands.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the pasta and serve immediately, optionally alongside garlic bread with cheese.
Notes
- Make sure the liquid is boiling before adding the pasta to achieve the ideal sauce consistency.
- The recipe can be made with either milk or half and half; milk creates a slightly thinner sauce, while half and half thickens it more.
- Use high-quality block Parmesan cheese, grated fresh for the best flavor and melting quality.
- Turn off the heat before adding the cheese to prevent separation and graininess.
- Add cheese gradually and stir continuously to maintain a smooth texture.
- If you only have spaghetti, try substituting it in this recipe or try the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta variation.
