Description

A festive and flavorful Halloween Mocktail that blends non-alcoholic red wine or fruit juice with fresh berries, citrus, cinnamon sticks, and optional maple syrup, served chilled with sparkling water or ginger ale for a refreshing and spooky seasonal drink.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bottle non-alcoholic red wine OR 4 cups pomegranate or grape juice
  • 2 oranges (or blood oranges)
  • 20 black grapes sliced
  • 15 blackberries or blueberries
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 red apple sliced
  • 2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale (optional)
  • 2-4 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
  • Extra fruit for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Slice the oranges and red apple, and slice the black grapes. Gather the blackberries or blueberries and cinnamon sticks.
  2. Mix and Muddle: Place all the fruit and cinnamon sticks into a pitcher or punch bowl. Pour in the non-alcoholic red wine or chosen juice. Stir gently to combine all flavors.
  3. Chill the Mixture: Place the pitcher or punch bowl into the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably up to 2-4 hours, allowing the flavors to infuse and intensify.
  4. Add Bubbles and Sweeten: Remove the sangria from the fridge and stir gently. Add sparkling water or ginger ale if using, stirring carefully to preserve bubbles. Taste the mocktail and add maple syrup in tablespoon increments as desired for sweetness, stirring gently after each addition.
  5. Serve: Pour the mocktail over ice-filled glasses and garnish with extra orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and additional fruit if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use a non-alcoholic Merlot or Shiraz, but any red wine or red juice like pomegranate or grape can substitute.
  • Adjust sweetness by tasting after adding sparkling water or ginger ale and adding maple syrup gradually as preferred.
  • This recipe is best made in batches for at least 3 servings but can be scaled down for single servings using a smaller pitcher or glass.
