Description

This Halloween Popcorn recipe combines sweet and salty flavors with a festive mix of semisweet chocolate, candy corn, peanut M&Ms, mini marshmallows, and colorful sprinkles. Perfect for a fun and easy holiday treat, it requires no baking and is ready in under an hour.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3 cups salted popcorn
  • 1/2 cup candy corn
  • 1/2 cup peanut M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
  • Sprinkles, for decorating

Instructions

  1. Prepare the popcorn mix: Add the popcorn, candy corn, peanut M&Ms, and mini marshmallows to a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Fill a medium pan with about an inch of water and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl larger than the pan, placing the bowl over the simmering water without touching it. Stir continuously with a rubber spatula until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Assemble the first layer: Drizzle half of the melted chocolate onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Spread half of the popcorn mixture evenly over the chocolate and gently press it down. Sprinkle some sprinkles on top.
  4. Add the second layer: Drizzle the remaining chocolate over the first layer, then top with the remaining popcorn mixture and sprinkles, pressing lightly to adhere.
  5. Set the popcorn bark: Refrigerate the tray for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate hardens completely.
  6. Serve: Break the hardened chocolate popcorn into bite-sized pieces and serve immediately. This treat is best enjoyed the same day but can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • To avoid peanuts, substitute peanut M&Ms with regular M&Ms and add 1/2 cup chopped pretzels for a salty crunch.
  • For more festive treats, try Rice Krispie Pumpkins or Halloween Truffles.
  • Store refrigerated if chocolate begins to melt, but note popcorn freshness may decrease more quickly.
  • Popcorn is best eaten within the day it’s made for optimal crispness and flavor.
