Ingredients
Scale
Steak Marinade
- 1 pound beef sirloin steak or beef tenderloin
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Main
- 2 pounds dried packaged gnocchi
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak: Dice the steak into bite-sized pieces, trimming off any excess fat or sinew. Place the steak bites into a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag or a shallow bowl for marinating.
- Marinate the Steak: Add lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the steak. Toss to coat evenly, seal or cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Cook the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the gnocchi according to package instructions (usually 2-3 minutes until they float). Drain and set aside.
- Sear the First Half of the Steak: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Using tongs, add half of the steak bites to the skillet, leaving marinade liquid behind. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the steak bites are browned and seared. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Sear the Remaining Steak: Add the remaining half of the steak bites to the skillet, avoiding overcrowding. Cook until browned and seared. Return the first batch of steak bites to the skillet.
- Add Garlic Butter and Gnocchi: Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet with steak. Let the garlic toast for one minute. Then add the cooked gnocchi and sauté everything together for 3 to 5 minutes until the gnocchi is lightly browned.
- Serve: Serve the steak bites and gnocchi hot, sprinkled with freshly grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
- Marinate the steak for up to 8 hours for deeper flavor.
- Use fresh gnocchi if available for a softer texture.
- Do not overcrowd the skillet when searing steak bites to ensure proper browning.
- For a dairy-free option, omit butter and Parmesan or substitute with vegan alternatives.
- Add fresh herbs like parsley or basil for extra freshness.
